The Guardians dropped game 1 against the Washington Nationals on Memorial Day Monday night, losing 10-2.

The game was a disaster from the start, with Guardians starter Tanner Bibee giving up 3 runs in the first, 3 runs in the second, and another in the 3rd.

Bibee gave up 5 homers….5! In just 3 innings of work. It was a 7-1 game before the top of the 3rd ended, which is just embarrassing.

Tanner is now 0-7 on the season with an ERA of 4.57, which is just not what you want to see from your quote on quote “ace”.

Bibee’s location was just horrid all game, with 3 out of the 5 homers he gave up, coming on pitches completely down the middle. He was basically serving up those pitches to the Nationals’ hitters on a silver platter.

The Guardians’ offense only put together two runs but to be fair, the game was over in the top of the 3rd. They didn’t really get a chance in this game due to Bibee’s lack of command.

The Guardians did get a solo homer in the 2nd from Rhys Hoskins, who now has 5 homers on the year, and we’ve seen a few more extra base knocks from Hoskins as of late which is great to see.

Angel Martinez got himself an RBI double in the 4th as well to cut the Nationals’ lead at the time to 5. It was Angel’s 9th double of the season and hopefully gets him out of his mini couple game slump he has been in.

Angel now has 27 runs batted in on the season.

The Guardians bullpen gave up 3 more runs after that losing 10-2. The Guardians pitching staff gave up 15 total hits, which is insane.

The game was such a stinker, especially after coming off that great series win in Philadelphia, taking 2 out of 3 against the Phillies, and the sweep in Detroit.

But the Guardians will bounce back tonight for game 2 of the 3 game series. Tanner Bibee isn’t pitching tonight so their chances of winning just skyrocketed.

Joey Cantillo will get the start on the mound tonight, looking to improve his record to 5-1, and lower that ERA to under 3.00, with it being currently 3.05.

The Guardians look to improve to 33-24 and increase their lead in the AL Central with first pitch being at 6:10 PM ET.
