After a bad loss on Monday night, where the Astros smacked the Guardians around for 9 innings, winning 9-2, the Guardians needed a win on Tuesday night to keep their chances alive of taking the 3 game series vs the Astros.

Cleveland got on too early, with a George Valera RBI single to make it a 1-0 game in the first. It is Valera’s second consecutive game with a 2-out RBI single. Valera is now hitting .273 on the season with 4 RBIs in 22 at-bats.

Angle Martinez made it a 2-0 game in the 2nd inning with a solo homer to right center field. Martinez has continued to swing the bat well this season, with his 3rd homer of the year, and has just been a huge spark for this offense.

After taking a 2-0 lead after two innings, The Guardians failed over and over to add more runs on the board despite having multiple opportunities with men on base in scoring position.

While the Guardians struggled to get more runs across, the Astros started getting to Guardians’ starter Parker Messick, scoring 3 runs off Messick in the top of the 5th, to give the Astros a 3-2 lead.

Messick was sharp for the first 4 innings but the Astros started getting to him, jumping on the fastball.

The Astros tailed another run on the board in the 7th to make a 4-2 game.

It wasn’t looking good for the Guardians but then the 8th inning came.

The Guardians exploded in the 8th, scoring 6 runs to take a 8-4 lead at the time. The Guardians put up 4 hits in the innings, and 3 walks.

The Guardians made it a 4-3 game, from another RBI knock for Brayan Rocchio, driving in his 15th RBI of the season.

Then with the bases loaded and 1 down, in a 4-3 game, Chase DeLauter finally broke out of his slump, slicing a bases clearing 3 RBI triple to give the Guardians the lead.

Hopefully this gives DeLauter his confidence back, hopefully going back to what he was doing in March and Early April, where he was mashing the baseball.

Up 6-4, with runners at 3rd and 2nd, Kyle Manzardo got in on the action, shooting a 2-run RBI single to right field to blow the game open for the Guards.

The Guardians finished the game with a win, defeating the Astros 8-5, creating a rubber-match that will be played tomorrow afternoon at 1:10 PM ET.

Guardians RHP Tanner Bibee is looking to get the win for the Guards, coming off his best start of the season last Friday against Baltimore.
